Fleece Blanket with Braided Edge

Blue Fleece Blanket

Today I am sharing this cuddly fleece blanket with you.
Fleece is probably the best fabric for a single layered blanket and ending it off with a easy and gorgeous border, pretty much perfects it in my book!

I just love the pattern on this particular fabric and think it would be so gorgeous swaddled around a brand new little baby! ♡

Here is a closer look at the edge.
It is so easy and really finishes off this project well.
I am still considering making a few bigger ones for snuggles on the couch ;)

You can find the tutorial for this edge @ mesilla.wordpress.com.
Just search for Project Linus Fleece Blankets - Feb 5, 2010

My blanket measures 85x85cm.

Let me know if I've inspired you to make this blanket.
It's a pretty darling gift for a new baby or an affordable treat for yourself.
Email me some photo's, I'd love to share your handiwork

Here are some pretty fabric options that I found on Amazon:

If you're not much of a sewer,
this blanket is available
for R150 ZAR + pp

Masjien Caddy

Naaldwerk Masjien Caddy

English version below ↡

Kyk net hoe oulik!

Hier is my betroubare ou caddy'tjie.
Sien, alles mooi op hul plek シ

As jy graag my blog lees, dan moet jy my asb op Bloglovin' volg.

Sewing Machine Caddy

Today I am showing you something that I made for a few birthday gifts this year.
It is a very handy little prezzie - if the birthday girl sews that is!  I had to come up with a few other gifts as well シ

You know how you are always losing your scissors, knocking over the paper bin - sending bits of thread and fabric flying - and how you never know where to put those pins you take out as you sew?
Well this caddy could be the solution to all your problems!!  Once you get into the habit of putting everything in its place, that is.  You will find yourself looking for your scissors, just to realize that it's been neatly tucked into its pocket!! haha

On the left there is a big pocket for all the thread and fabric scraps and to the right there are 3 narrower pockets for your scissors, pen/pencil and ruler.
Everything you need in one place and right at hand.

You can find the tutorial @ howjoyfulblog.com

She also shows how to make a pincushion to hook onto the caddy,

Here is one that I made with the fabric that I showed you a while back.
(Sorry for the poor quality picture, I forgot to take nice photos for you before wrapping it)

Here is my trusty old caddy.
See - everything in its place.
I'm a bit jealous of the other caddys now and I want to make a new one for myself.

Basiese Naaldwerk Reeks - Voorwoord

Voorwoord

Hallo almal!!

So kom leer saam met my ♡

Watch this space on Tuesdays!

Sien julle gou weer!!
Lekker week vir almal

Groete

Nursing Cover Scarf

Infinity Scarf Nursing Cover

Hi everyone!
I'm back with another English version of an older post for you.
Hope you enjoy it!

This is such a brilliant idea!
A beautiful infinity scarf that doubles as a nursing cover!!

The concept is simple.  An infinity scarf that is cut wide enough to give mom some privacy when she wants to nurse baby.  It is also harder for sneaky little babies to pull down than a blankie draped over the shoulder.
It is also very conveniently always at hand, and one less thing that you have to remember to pack into that already overfull diaper bag!
In my opinion it is very stylish too!!  What better than a scarf to finish off a beautiful outfit.

I think this is an ideal baby shower gift (if you know that the new mommy is a candidate for breastfeeding) and something she can use long after baby has been weaned (so even if you get your info wrong 个 she will still be able to use it haha)

There are many tutorials for this scarf on the internet.

All you need is some stretchy knit fabric (because the raw edges won't fray)

I just cut mine 70x150cm and sewed the short sides together.
That's it!
The hardest part is to cut the knit fabric straight, it is a bit fiddly, but I'm sure no one would even notice if you got it a bit crooked ;P

I hope this post has inspired you to try this simple project.
And if you are not much of a sewer, this scarf is for sale
for R200 ZAR + pp

Go check out my Hello Pretty Store for more products.

Enjoy the rest of your week, the weekend is around the corner!!

Lienke's Quiet Book

Hi everyone!
As promised, I am translating a few of my older posts for you  シ

I am starting with my very first post.
Lienke's Quiet Book

I had so much fun making this book for friends of our's niece
And from what I heard, she thoroughly loves it as well.
I hope that she will enjoy it for many years to come.

The first page is the CAT-page シ

I found my inspiration for this page on tanyahandmade.blogspot.com

The snow white kitty has a snug bed and bowls of food and water of course.

The curtain can be tied back (ideal to perfect fine motor skills of little hands).
You can even see a shooting star through the window-
the star can be moved by tugging on the ribbon on either side ☆

And there is a cheeky little mouse that scampers across the floor to tease our kitty.

The second page is our DOG-page.
I got the idea for this page from Lindy J Designs' A Home For Max quiet book.
She has some pretty cute patterns!!

This friendly pup has a cute little doghouse where he hides his ball
and a food and water bowl.

He buried his bone behind a bush in the garden.
And a row of rainbow coloured flowers line the fence.

Luckily he has a nice warm house to stay in when it starts to rain ♡

Next we have our COUNTING-page with a friendly snail.
I just LOOOVE the fabric on this page!
I also got the idea for this page at Tanya Handmade

There is a counter with 5 wooden beads.

And I was so excited to make this page!
There is a bead underneath the fabric and you can move it around the spiral of the snail's shell.
How awesome is that?!? :D
It is very therapeutic.

At the top of the page I put the numbers 1-5 with beads in matching colours and numbers next to each.

Last we have the HOME-page
There is a tall gate in front of the house that laces up with a shoelace
(I bought the pink laces after taking the photos for this post)
I got the idea for this page at Handmade by Mom

This is also the shape page.

The roof (triangle), sun(circle), door(rectangle) and window(square) can be stuck on with valcro.

There is a little bird in her nest. She is attached with a ribbon, to keep her from flying away ;)

It took me a long time to decide what to put behind the flower bush in the garden, and I am very pleased with this adorable little bunny!

That is it for today folks

Hope you enjoyed it!!

Best Wishes

English Posts

Hallo all!!

I have very exciting news for my English readers!

Since I am trying to expand my blog a bit, I've decided that, from now on, I am also writing my posts in English.  I know that the translation button is available on my blog, but lets face it, it doesn't really take the word order thing very seriously.  And that can get a bit confusing!
English is also the most universal language (that I'm able to speak anyway) and it will hopefully help me to gain a few readers and even followers.

*hint*hint*
please follow me by clicking on the button on the right

Over the next few weeks, I will be going back over my archives and translating some old posts シ

Now...
I'd very much like to have your opinion on this.
Would you like to see new English posts posted separately the next day?
Or at the bottom of my Afrikaans posts, to keep everything together?
Please leave a comment below to let me know your preferences.

Also, plz follow me on Bloglovin'
It is such a nice way to keep up with all your favorite blogs.
If you've never heard of Bloglovin', then I have this helpful post to tell you all about it!

Hope to see you back here soon!

Best Wishes

Afwesigheid Rapport ;)

*Hierdie post bevat affiliated links

Hallo blog-vriende!!
Hoe gaan dit met julle?

Vandag wil ek vir julle wys en vertel waarmee ek besig was in my afwesigheid...
dis goeie verskonings, ek belowe シ

PLAAS KASKENADES

Eers was ons plaas toe.

Garnier Ambre Solaire SPF 50 Sensitive*

Haar naam is Snifsnaf :)

TREK

My tweede verskoning is die groot trek.

Groete
